In honor of the current electoral bliss sweeping the nation, I add my personal contribution to democracy. Daily voting. For new music. No more relying on other blogger pundits or the larger music industry to tell you what is good and what isn’t. Just listen and speak your mind. No social network to leach onto, no magazine subscriptions to buy for a free trial period. Just streaming media and your thoughts. Thanks to CherryPeel, you can engage in your civic duty, create a playlist of the ballot measures you approved, and share them with all types of voters. A simple thumbs up or thumbs down determines your vote. No odd rating scale, no maybes. Just good, clean, voting fun. Isn’t that what America is all about?

Democracy In All Its Glory
A Time to Reflect
I would normally force myself to write something related to music, but this is too historic of an occasion. I am just so happy to see that my father lived to be able to see a Black man as president. I literally heard him giggle over the phone at MIDNIGHT about how great a day it was. I myself couldn’t hid my joy and excitement. So, yes, I’m proud to be an American!
The Renaissance – NaBloPoMo
Not only the title of Q-Tip’s next album, which you can stream here, but also the theme for my return to blogging. We last left off at the ugly incident of laptop theft that left me morally shaken and technologically lost. Well, I’ve had it. I’m done with the pity party of missed information. In other words, I’m back. And on a mission. A very specific one at that. I will try my best to join the ranks of others celebrating NaBloPoMo and test my hand at 30 (grueling and possibly torturous) days of straight blogging. So there. No excuses. Just typing. Bear with me as the content may get thin. But hey, I tried.
Since the national election is just around the corner, why not take your pick of candidate theme songs. Or better yet, songs inspired by the candidacy. Note – While this year’s theme songs have been predominantly manufactured for one candidate, it does illustrate a new wave of inspiration from musicians to not only let politics influence their songwriting, but to let their songwriting influence politics. We’ll see if this continues in coming campaigns.
